We publish contributions from people who know something specific and can show their work. We also sell a limited number of sponsored placements. Both go through the same form below, and both are read by a person.

What works here

  • A specific claim you can defend, not a survey of a topic.
  • Primary sources for every factual statement.
  • Firsthand experience — a protocol you ran, a device you used for three months, data you actually collected.
  • Willingness to say when something does not work.

What does not

  • Generic listicles assembled from other listicles.
  • Anything whose real purpose is a single link.
  • Generated drafts. We can tell, and so can the reader.

Tell us the argument, not the topic. "Sleep tracking" is a topic; "consumer sleep-stage detection is less accurate than the apps imply" is an argument.
