Why this site exists, and the standard everything here is held to.
Aware Roots exists because of a gap that kept bothering us. An enormous industry now sells people readings of themselves — readiness scores, sleep stages, stress indices, focus streaks — and almost nobody explains what those numbers can and cannot tell you.
We take a claim, find the research it rests on, and report what the research actually says. Sometimes that confirms the claim. More often it reveals a small effect in a short study on forty undergraduates, which has since been rewritten into a landing page.
The people writing here have built the systems being examined — engagement loops, retention funnels, the notification copy that gets opened. That background is the whole point. It is much easier to see how a metric is being dressed up when you have been paid to dress metrics up.
When we get something wrong we correct it in place, with a dated note explaining what changed. If you spot an error, tell us — the correction is more useful than the original.
Aware Roots is written by Alex Myrni, who builds digital products for a living. That background is the reason this site exists: it is much easier to see how a metric is being dressed up when you have been paid to dress metrics up.
