Why this site exists, and the standard everything here is held to.
Aware Roots exists because of a gap that kept bothering us. An enormous industry now sells people readings of themselves (readiness scores, sleep stages, stress indices, focus streaks) and almost nobody explains what those numbers can and cannot tell you.
We take a claim, find the research it rests on, and report what the research actually says. Sometimes that confirms the claim. More often it reveals a small effect in a short study on forty undergraduates, which has since been rewritten into a landing page.
The people writing here have built the systems being examined: engagement loops, retention funnels, the notification copy that gets opened. That background is the whole point. It is much easier to see how a metric is being dressed up when you have been paid to dress metrics up.
When we get something wrong we correct it in place, with a dated note explaining what changed. If you spot an error, tell us. The correction is more useful than the original.
Aware Roots is written by Alex Myrni, who builds digital products for a living. That background is the reason this site exists: it is much easier to see how a metric is being dressed up when you have been paid to dress metrics up.
